• About the Artist

Primarily a painter en plein air, I work almost entirely outdoors painting landscapes on location. I started painting relatively late in life, after technical consulting for large accounting firms, The Wall Street Journal, Bell Labs and Intel. While consulting, I completed the studio core courses at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA. I have always relied on this classical foundation of drawing and draftsmanship in my paintings.

My first introduction to oil painting was using the using the Prismatic Palette. It is also known as the DuMond Palette for Frank Vincent DuMond, a famous instructor/painter at the Art Students League of New York who brought its methodology from studios in Paris in the late 19th century. In 2020 I joined the community of painters in the art colony of Rockport, MA. My new studio is in a cosy little blacksmith’s shop in the downtown area. As a graduate of Boston College and a kid who grew up in Massachusetts, my new studio feels like a return home.
